Fences for Privacy

We all value our time at home, especially when we can relax in privacy. Unfortunately, if you have neighbors, that privacy can be limited. Building a privacy fence can give you the luxury of enjoying your yard without prying eyes seeing your every move. If privacy is one of your concerns, you want a fence that blocks the view, creating a barrier between your home and the outside world.

Building A Fence For Privacy

Not all fences give you privacy. A picket or ornamental iron fence may be beautiful, but neither of these options will block the view of your neighbors. The best options are going to be fences that are solid in design, such as a traditional wood or vinyl fence (stockade or board on board), batten with lattice or even a chain link fence with privacy straps. The higher the fence, the more privacy you will have. Most people striving to create a barrier will want a fence height of five feet or more.

There are several reasons that a privacy fence is a good investment. Consider these thoughts:

Family. You should be able to spend time with your family at your home without others watching your every move. Keep your family time private with the help of a fence.

Outdoor activities. Those who own a nice patio, pool or hot tub can relax in their shorts or swimsuits without putting on a show for the neighbors with the addition of a privacy fence.

Messy neighbors. Have a neighbor that never mows their yard or has junk piled up along the side of their house? Sometimes the best use of a privacy fence is not the neighbors not seeing you; it is you not seeing them!

Whatever your reason for wanting privacy, a fence is a great way to add a little visual obstacle between your home and the rest of the world. It is just another great reason that fences can be a worthwhile investment for your home and family.
